Welcome to The Funky Hip Joint
I'll make this simple: I love music and some of my happiest times have been spent listening to funk, soul and jazz
I've always enjoyed discovering new music and sharing that enjoyment with friends
As I've got older, I've realised that a song that made me want to dance in my teens and 20's still has the same effect
Many of us have musical heroes and I've been lucky enough to interview some of mine. I've also had the chance to write about and broadcast music by artists who are just making a name for themselves - that's really exciting
All of these things are fun - but not nearly so much fun as sharing the pleasure they bring...

DJ Appearances Come and dance to some great music
It's important to me to give you the kind of good time and memories that I'm lucky to have had. By working with you and visiting the venue, I can plan a set of songs that you and your guests can enjoy to the maximum. Meantime, why not look in my 'little black book' for some ideas...
When I was 15, I used to dance at Blackpool Mecca until the early hours. The dressing up, the ultraviolet lights and the feeling of doing something 'naughty' were all part of it... but the biggest thrill was the music!

Shiny Edge Internet Radio Hear this music on internet radio
Press the 'play' button to listen to 'Wild & Peaceful' (it can take a few seconds...) Remember to pause the music player at the bottom first
I love the idea of radio. Ever since I watched "Play Misty for Me", I've been entranced by the idea of a small specialist radio station playing classy soul and jazz late at night. Well, it's a very romantic idea
In the UK, I don't think such a thing exists so I've done my best to recreate this online
Of course, you'd expect me to play funk but I called my station 'Wild & Peaceful' partly because I think it's a cool name, but mostly to reflect the fact that mellow, soulful music gives me as much pleasure as tunes to groove to
Jazz has always been a part of my life and where it blends with funk and soul tends to be where I'm happiest...
Thank You Thank you!
Massive thanks to trumpeter Greg Adams for allowing me to use his lovely "Five to Eleven" track to entertain my site visitors. Check his site: www.gregadamsmusic.com (you may need to pause the track playing before you leave this page)
Grazie mille to photographer Amedea de Cataldis for the photos
A big hug to my long-suffering wife who has supported me and listened to my gibberish while I've been putting this together xxx
